The Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA), you will support students with additional social and emotional needs, helping them manage their behaviour, engage in learning, and develop essential life skills. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a positive and structured learning environment.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in implementing individual behaviour and learning plans.
  • Use positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviours.
  • Support students in developing emotional regulation and social skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.
  • Encourage a positive learning attitude and help students build self-confidence.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, autism, ADHD, or behavioural challenges.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • A relevant qualification in education, psychology, mental health, or behaviour support (desirable but not essential).
  • A valid enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or willingness to apply for one.

What’s in It for You?

  • Competitive daily pay of £83.33 - £90.00, based on experience.
  • A rewarding opportunity to positively impact students’ lives.
  • A supportive school environment focused on student well-being.
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • A dedicated consultant to support you throughout your role.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
