Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)

Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Winton. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of SEMH challenges who can build trust, provide stability, and help students navigate their educational journey.
The Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a key role in supporting students who require additional emotional and behavioural guidance. You will help create a safe and structured environment where students can develop their confidence, resilience, and social skills while engaging with learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in implementing individual behaviour and support plans.
- Help students develop emotional regulation and coping strategies.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to create a positive and structured learning environment.
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to staff and parents.
- Encourage positive peer interactions and social development.
Who We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, ADHD, autism, or behavioural difficulties.
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach to challenging situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- An understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Relevant training in behaviour management, de-escalation techniques, or mental health support (desirable but not essential).
- A valid enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
