Teaching Assistant – SEN Support
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Salary: £83 – £96 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term Time Only

A well-respected secondary academy in York is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team, providing tailored support to students with additional needs.
About the Role as a SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Supporting students with SEN, including those with autism, ADHD, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
- Providing one-to-one and small group support to help students access the curriculum.
- Assisting teachers in adapting lessons and resources to meet individual learning needs.
- Encouraging confidence, independence, and engagement in the classroom.
- Supporting students' emotional well-being and behaviour management in line with school policies.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.
About You as the Ideal Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN (school-based experience is desirable but not essential).
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting learning and behaviour.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A team player who is adaptable and willing to support across different subject areas.
- A passion for helping young people reach their full potential.
