Location: Chesterfield (S41)
Salary: £85 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full - Time
Working Hours: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

The role will see you overseeing the safe delivery of meals for students, assisting in food lessons as a Teaching Assistant and providing general learning support in the classroom.

About the Role:

As a Midday Learning Support Assistant (LSA), you will play a vital role in ensuring that students receive the support they need during their midday breaks and food-related activities. Your support will help ensure that students are nourished, engaged and ready for the challenges of the school day. You will be an integral part of the school team, helping students navigate their midday breaks and contributing to their academic and personal development.

Responsibilities of a Midday Learning Support Assistant (LSA):

  • Supervise and support students during midday breaks, ensuring that all students receive their meals in a safe and orderly environment.
  • Deliver breakfast and lunch to classes, ensuring that all students are catered for and supported throughout mealtimes.
  • Assist in food lessons as a Teaching Assistant, supporting students with their learning in cooking and nutrition-based activities.
  • Provide support to students with additional learning needs, both in food lessons and across other subjects.
  • Ensure students are engaged and safe during mealtimes, managing any behaviour and supporting students with special dietary or medical needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers to ensure that the midday break runs smoothly and supports students' well-being.
  • Assist in managing classroom environments during food lessons, ensuring students are focused and engaged.
  • Build positive relationships with students, helping them feel supported and confident throughout their school day.
  • Be proactive in adapting your approach based on individual student needs, ensuring each student receives the support required to succeed.

Job Requirements of the Midday Learning Support Assistant (LSA):

  • Experience working in educational settings, with a particular focus on supporting students in food-related lessons and midday breaks.
  • Ability to support students in food lessons as a Teaching Assistant (TA) while delivering effective guidance and support.
  • A full UK driving license is essential, as you may be required to transport meals to different classes across the school.
  • A commitment to working full-time, being available for the role during the school day to ensure the effective delivery of meals and support in the classroom.
  • Experience with special educational needs (SEN) or working with students who may require additional support would be advantageous.
  • Patience, empathy and strong communication skills to effectively engage with students and staff.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to adapt to a range of situations and student needs.
  • Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
