Art Teacher – Southampton, Hampshire

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Art Teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in Southampton. This full-time role offers a competitive salary between £30,000 and £50,000 per year, with the opportunity for a permanent contract after a successful probation period. The position starts from Easter 2025 or September 2025, and applications are welcome from both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators.

Responsibilities of the Art Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and inspiring Art lessons, fostering creativity and artistic expression in students.
  • Teach across KS3 and KS4, covering a variety of artistic techniques, mediums, and styles.
  • Encourage students to develop their technical skills and explore their individual artistic voices.
  • Assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help them achieve their potential.
  • Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment, promoting a passion for Art.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities such as art clubs, exhibitions, and creative projects.

Requirements of the Art Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Career Teacher (ECT).
  • Strong subject knowledge in Art and Design with experience in practical and theoretical teaching.
  • Ability to inspire and engage students through creative and interactive lessons.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
