Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated Autism Support Worker to join a school in Wareham, providing tailored support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

About the role:

As an Autism Support Worker (ASC Support Worker), you will play a crucial role in creating a supportive and structured learning environment, helping students develop essential skills for both academic and personal growth. Key Responsibilities of an Autism (ASC) Support Worker:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with autism.
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ needs.
  • Support students in managing sensory sensitivities, social interactions, and communication challenges.
  • Encourage independence and confidence through structured routines and strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to provide personalised support.
  • Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.

Autism Support Worker Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with autism or additional needs as an Autism Support Worker is desirable.
  • Understanding of autism and strategies for supporting students effectively.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, special educational needs, or related fields are beneficial.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A patient, calm, and compassionate approach.

To thrive in this role, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
