Mental Health Teaching Assistant

Location: Ringwood
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time/Part-time

If so, GSL Education are seeking a compassionate Mental Health Teaching Assistant (Mental Health TA) to join a welcoming school in Ringwood. This role is ideal for someone who is dedicated to supporting students with their emotional, social, and academic development in a nurturing learning environment.

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant (Mental Health TA), you will work closely with students who may face challenges such as anxiety, low confidence, and social difficulties, providing tailored support to help them succeed.

Mental Health Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Support students with their mental well-being and social-emotional needs in the classroom.
  • Assist teachers in implementing strategies that promote positive mental health.
  • Encourage students to engage in learning and build self-confidence.
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups to provide emotional and behavioural support.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Help students develop coping strategies and resilience.

Mental Health TA Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, particularly in a mental health or educational setting as a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, is desirable.
  • CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare are preferred.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Education or similar.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
