Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

Salary: £76.92 - £95.68 per day (Depending on experience)

About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with children who require additional support to access education in a meaningful and fulfilling way. Your role will involve assisting teachers in delivering tailored learning plans, providing one-to-one and group support and helping to create an inclusive and positive classroom atmosphere.
Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
- Assist in the implementation of individual learning programmes designed to meet pupils' specific needs.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help students engage with their learning.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages confidence and independence.
- Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to adapt lesson materials and activities.
- Support pupils with personal care and sensory needs where required.
- Manage and promote positive behaviour, using de-escalation techniques when necessary.
- Build strong and trusting relationships with students, offering encouragement and emotional support.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents to ensure continuous development.
- Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the well-being of all students.
The successful candidate will have:
- A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
- Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar role is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach to working with children who have additional needs.
- An understanding of SEN strategies and inclusive teaching practices.
- A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or SEN support is advantageous.
- An updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
