About the Role:

As a Classroom Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing tailored academic and emotional support to pupils, ensuring they feel confident and motivated in their learning. Working alongside teachers and school staff, you will assist in the development of engaging lessons, foster a positive learning environment and provide one-to-one or small-group support to pupils who may require additional guidance.

Responsibilities of a Classroom Support Worker:

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting materials to meet pupils' needs.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students requiring additional assistance.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Support pupils with special educational needs (SEN) or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and encourage positive interactions.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN coordinators and other school staff to promote pupil development.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents where necessary.
  • Encourage independence and confidence in pupils through tailored learning support.

Job Requirements of the Classroom Support Worker:

  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their educational development.
  • Previous experience in a classroom, childcare, or youth support setting is advantageous.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, adaptability and a proactive approach to learning support.
  • An understanding of safeguarding policies and a commitment to student well-being.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
  • Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
