SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Totton
Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Totton.
About the role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with teachers and support staff to create a nurturing and structured environment where every child can thrive. This role is ideal for a dedicated individual who wants to positively impact students with special educational needs, helping them build confidence and achieve their potential.
Responsibilities of Special Needs Teaching Assistant (TA) :
- Provide personalised one-to-one and small group support to students.
- Assist teachers in implementing tailored learning plans.
- Encourage students' social, emotional, and academic development.
- Adapt lesson materials to suit individual learning needs.
- Support students in developing essential life skills and independence.
- Monitor and document student progress and report to the SENCO.
- Help maintain a safe and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Qualification & Skills of a SEN TA:
- Prior experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant in an educational or SEN setting is beneficial.
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare are preferred but not essential.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in psychology, education or similar.
- A patient, supportive, and understanding approach to working with children.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Adaptability to meet different learning needs and challenges.
- An enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one.
