SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Hedge End
Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a welcoming and supportive school in Hedge End.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (Special Educational Needs TA), you will play a crucial role in providing both academic and emotional support to students, ensuring they thrive in a nurturing learning environment.

This role is ideal for an individual who is patient, dedicated, and eager to support students with special educational needs in achieving their full potential.

SEN TA Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with additional needs.
  • Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning plans.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour, promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Support students' personal and social development through structured activities.
  • Adapt learning materials to suit different abilities and learning styles.
  • Offer emotional support and encouragement to boost students’ confidence.
  • Track student progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCO.

Requirements for a Special Needs TA:

  • Experience in an SEN or educational setting as a SEN Teaching Assistant is advantageous.
  • Any degree in psychology, education or similar.
  • CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare are preferred but not essential.
  • A patient and compassionate approach to working with children.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset.
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one.
