SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Eastleigh
Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a friendly and supportive school in Eastleigh.

About the role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will provide vital classroom support, working closely with students to enhance their learning experience and build their confidence. This role is ideal for a compassionate individual who thrives in an inclusive learning environment and is committed to helping students with special educational needs achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities of SEN TA:

  • Assist students with their learning, both in one-to-one and small group settings.
  • Support teachers in delivering tailored lessons that cater to students' individual needs.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour, ensuring a positive and structured learning environment.
  • Encourage students' personal and social development through interactive activities.
  • Provide emotional and pastoral support, fostering a safe and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Monitor progress and report feedback to teachers and SENCO.
  • Adapt learning materials and resources to suit students' learning styles.

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an SEN or educational setting as a SEN Teaching Assistant is desirable.
  • Any degree in psychology, education or similar.
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare are preferred but not essential.
  • A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to supporting children.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to provide academic and emotional support to students.
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one.
