About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will be providing individual and small-group support to students with additional learning needs. You will work alongside teachers to create an engaging and structured learning environment, ensuring that students receive the encouragement and guidance they need to succeed.
SEN TA Responsibilities:
- Assist students in achieving their academic and personal development goals.
- Provide one-to-one and group support, adapting teaching materials to meet individual needs.
- Encourage positive learning behaviours and boost student confidence.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff to implement effective learning strategies.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom atmosphere.
- Support students with developing social skills and emotional regulation.
- Assist with classroom management and behaviour support.
- Help students with daily routines and transitions between activities.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
- Support students with practical tasks, including reading, writing, and numeracy activities.
What we need from an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- A background in psychology, education, childcare, or related fields is advantageous.
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
- Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is preferred.
- A caring and patient approach to supporting students with additional needs.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- The ability to adapt learning techniques to support individual student needs.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
