GSL Education are looking for a Behaviour Support Worker to join a specialist school in Bournemouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' lives by helping them develop confidence, emotional regulation, and essential life skills.
About the Role: As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will work closely with students who require additional support due to social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. Your role will involve implementing behaviour management strategies, building positive relationships, and fostering an inclusive learning environment that encourages personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with behavioural needs.
- Implement tailored behaviour management strategies to encourage positive interactions.
- Assist students in developing emotional regulation skills, self-confidence, and resilience.
- Establish strong relationships with students, acting as a mentor and positive role model.
- Support teachers in maintaining a structured and supportive classroom environment.
- Encourage student engagement in learning and social activities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to develop individual support plans.
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies to ensure student welfare and safety.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, or SEN (desirable but not essential).
- A background in youth work, psychology, education, or social care is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive and supportive relationships.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with young people in need of additional support.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to challenging situations.
