GSL Education are seeking a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a school in Ringwood. About the Role:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will work closely with students who require additional emotional and behavioural support. You will provide encouragement, guidance, and tailored interventions to help them engage in learning and develop important life skills.
What you have to do as an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Support students with SEMH needs in their academic and personal development.
- Build positive relationships with students to foster confidence and engagement.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to help students regulate emotions.
- Work one-to-one or in small groups to provide targeted support.
- Assist teachers in creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
- Encourage students to develop self-confidence, resilience, and social skills.
- Monitor student progress and communicate effectively with staff and parents.
What we need from an SEMH TA:
- Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour as an SEMH Teaching Assistant.
- A background in education, youth work, mental health support, or a related field is desirable.
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or Childcare.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to student support.
- Ability to de-escalate challenging situations and provide emotional support.
