Salary: M1 to UPS3 (Depending on Experience)

About the Role:

As a Design and Technology Teacher (DT Teacher), you will be responsible for delivering creative and engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will inspire students to develop their design and technical skills, fostering an interest in innovation, problem-solving, and hands-on learning. The role offers the chance to make a lasting impact on students' understanding of technology, engineering, and design, and guide them towards achieving their academic goals.

Design and Technology Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Design and Technology lessons that align with the school’s curriculum.
  • Teach students across Key Stage 3 and 4, adapting lessons to meet the varying needs of students.
  • Encourage creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking within the classroom.
  • Ensure the effective use of equipment, materials, and tools in line with safety guidelines.
  • Track student progress and provide detailed feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Create and maintain a safe and productive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Support students in achieving their best potential by providing additional guidance and support when necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with other teaching staff to promote interdisciplinary learning and share best practices.
  • Follow all safeguarding and child protection policies in accordance with school guidelines.

What we need from a DT Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design and Technology or a related subject.
  • Experience teaching Design and Technology at secondary level is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Design and Technology principles and effective teaching methods.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to inspire and engage students in hands-on learning experiences.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to apply for one.
