About the Role:
As a Design and Technology Teacher (DT Teacher), you will be responsible for delivering creative and engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will inspire students to develop their design and technical skills, fostering an interest in innovation, problem-solving, and hands-on learning. The role offers the chance to make a lasting impact on students' understanding of technology, engineering, and design, and guide them towards achieving their academic goals.
Design and Technology Teacher Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging Design and Technology lessons that align with the school’s curriculum.
- Teach students across Key Stage 3 and 4, adapting lessons to meet the varying needs of students.
- Encourage creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking within the classroom.
- Ensure the effective use of equipment, materials, and tools in line with safety guidelines.
- Track student progress and provide detailed feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
- Create and maintain a safe and productive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Support students in achieving their best potential by providing additional guidance and support when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with other teaching staff to promote interdisciplinary learning and share best practices.
- Follow all safeguarding and child protection policies in accordance with school guidelines.
What we need from a DT Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design and Technology or a related subject.
- Experience teaching Design and Technology at secondary level is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of Design and Technology principles and effective teaching methods.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Ability to inspire and engage students in hands-on learning experiences.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to apply for one.
