Location: Barnsley
Salary: £140 - £190 per day (Depending on experience).
Start Date: ASAP/ Easter term of 2025

Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term, Full-Time / Part-Time

About the Role:

As a Maths Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons in line with the curriculum, motivating students to achieve their best while ensuring that every pupil grasps key mathematical concepts and develops critical problem-solving skills. You will work in a collaborative team, with the opportunity to further develop your career within a progressive school environment that fosters academic achievement and student well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons in Mathematics that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to ensure engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Assess and track students’ progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and guidance to help them improve.
  • Foster a love for mathematics by demonstrating its real-world applications and relevance to everyday life.
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning, while managing behaviour effectively.
  • Provide additional support to students who may require extra help, ensuring all learners can access the curriculum.
  • Prepare and mark assessments, reports and homework on time, contributing to students' overall academic progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents and support staff to create a holistic approach to student development and success.
  • Keep abreast of new teaching strategies, changes to the curriculum and educational developments to ensure continued professional growth.

Maths Teacher requirements:

  • The successful candidate must hold a PGCE in Mathematics with Qualified Teaching Status (QTS).
  • Previous experience teaching Maths at the secondary school level is desirable, although Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who have completed their training placements are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • A passion for teaching and an ability to engage and inspire students of varying abilities in Mathematics.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and a deep understanding of the mathematics curriculum.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff and parents.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
  • Be able to provide a ten-year career history with relevant reference details covering the last two years, including your most recent place of academic employment.
