SEN Teaching Assistant – Bournemouth

A secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated one-to-one support for a student with SEMH who is on an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). This rewarding role offers a salary between £17,500 to £19,500 per year (Based on your experience), with a start date available ASAP or from Easter 2025. A permanent contract is available following a successful probation period.

About the role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide one-to-one support to a student with SEMH who is on an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). Your role will be instrumental in ensuring the child receives the tailored assistance they need to thrive in a mainstream setting.

Responsibilities as a SEN TA:

  • Provide tailored one-to-one support to a student with SEMH.
  • Assist with learning activities, ensuring the student remains engaged and on task.
  • Implement strategies to support social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff.
  • Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements for the SEN TA:

  • Previous experience as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of diverse learning needs and effective support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
