Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Southbourne

Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 Per Hour (Depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Southbourne. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in SEN support, education, or care work who want to make a meaningful impact on young learners’ lives.

Key Responsibilities of SEN TA:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with SEN.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
  • Support students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and other additional needs.
  • Help students develop social skills, confidence, and independence.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
  • Encourage student engagement and participation in lessons and activities.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential).
  • A strong understanding of autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and behavioural challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with students.
  • The ability to adapt to different learning styles and needs.
  • Relevant qualifications in Education, SEN, or Health & Social Care (preferred but not essential).
