Mental Health Teaching Assistant

Location: Ringwood

Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 Per Hour (Depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking a Mental Health Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive and inclusive school in Ringwood. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in mental health support, SEN education, psychology, or social care who want to make a meaningful impact on students' lives.

Key Responsibilities of the Mental Health Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with mental health challenges.
  • Assist students in developing emotional regulation, coping strategies, and confidence.
  • Work closely with teachers and SENCOs to implement personalised support plans.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support students with anxiety, behavioural challenges, and emotional difficulties.
  • Encourage engagement in learning and social activities.
  • Collaborate with external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student well-being.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience in mental health support, SEN education, or youth work (desirable but not essential).
  • A strong understanding of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students.
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviours effectively.
  • Relevant qualifications in psychology, education, or social care (preferred but not essential).
