About the Role: As a SEN Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs. You will work closely with teachers to provide tailored support, helping students overcome learning barriers and develop essential skills. Your role will involve creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every student can achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities of SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)

  • Individual Support: Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with SEN, ensuring they receive the individual attention they need.
  • IEP Development: Assist teachers in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs.
  • Classroom Management: Help manage classroom behaviour and support students during lessons and activities.
  • Positive Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging students to interact and build social skills.
  • Progress Tracking: Track and report on student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Resource Preparation: Assist in preparing classroom materials and resources to support learning activities.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Requirements of SEN Teaching Assistant (TA)

  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs is highly desirable.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Compassion: A compassionate approach and the ability to remain patient in challenging situations.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications or training in special education or SEN will be an advantage.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the needs of the school and students.
