Job Title: Autism Support Worker
Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are looking for an Autism Support Worker to join a specialist school in Bournemouth. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with experience in SEN education, care work, psychology, or behaviour support to work in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

About the Role:

As an Autism Support Worker, you will play a key role in providing tailored support to students with autism, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to create a positive and structured learning environment where every student feels valued and understood.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with autism in classroom and specialist settings.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging self-regulation, social skills, and confidence.
  • Support students’ sensory needs and emotional well-being through structured interventions.
  • Promote independent learning while offering guidance and encouragement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide holistic support.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students.

Who We're Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with autism or SEN (desirable but not essential).
  • A relevant qualification in Education, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or SEN Support (preferred).
  • Understanding of autism, sensory processing challenges, and communication difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with students.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with children with additional needs.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging situations.
