Location: Wareham
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 Per Hour (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Wareham, helping students who face social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant (Mental Health TA), you will play a vital role in providing emotional and academic support to students, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and empowered in their learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in young lives while developing your skills in education and mental health support.
What your responsibilities will be as a Mental Health Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with mental health needs.
- Assist in implementing behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies.
- Foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Support students in developing confidence, resilience, and social skills.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and mental health professionals.
- Monitor and report on student progress and well-being.
- Encourage positive engagement in learning and school activities.
Mental Health TA Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a school or educational setting as a Mental Health Teaching Assistant or in a similar is desirable.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, or a similar field.
- An understanding of mental health challenges affecting young people.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting children with additional needs.
