SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) – Secondary
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and making a real difference in their learning journey?
GSL Education are seeking a proactive and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Bournemouth, Dorset. This full-time role offers a salary between £17,500 to £19,500 per year (based on experience), with a start date ASAP or from Easter 2025. A permanent contract is available after a successful probation period.
About the role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide one-to-one support to a student with Autism who is on an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP). Your role will be instrumental in ensuring the child receives the tailored assistance they need to thrive in a mainstream setting.
Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
- Offer personalised support to a student with Autism, helping them access the curriculum and develop key skills.
- Implement EHCP strategies to ensure progress and engagement.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging social and academic development.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support the student's learning needs.
- Provide emotional and behavioural support, promoting confidence and independence.
Requirements of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):
- Previous experience working one-on-one with children with Autism who are on an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) or SEN in a school or similar setting.
- Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills to build trust with the student.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to adapt strategies to suit the child’s individual needs.
- A reliable and committed professional looking to make a meaningful impact.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for supporting all students.
- Understanding of various SEN conditions.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
