Job Title: Autism Support Worker
Location: Blandford
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time
Are you a patient and understanding Autism Support Worker looking for a meaningful role in education? If so, GSL Education are seeking an Autism Support Worker to join a school in Blandford on either a full-time or part-time basis, with an immediate start. This is an excellent opportunity to provide specialist support to students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and help them thrive in their learning environment.
About the Role: As an Autism Support Worker, you will work closely with students diagnosed with Autism, offering both academic and emotional support. You will assist in creating a structured and nurturing environment that enables students to develop essential life skills, improve their communication, and engage positively with learning.
Autism Support Worker Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with Autism.
- Implement structured routines and learning activities tailored to individual needs.
- Assist with communication strategies, sensory regulation, and social skills development.
- Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to implement individual learning plans.
- Use positive behaviour management strategies to support students in self-regulation.
- Monitor and report on student progress, adapting support strategies where necessary.
Autism Support Worker Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting individuals with Autism, preferably in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of Autism-specific strategies, such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory integration techniques (desirable).
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with students.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
