Teacher of History
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: MPS/UPS: £31,650 - £49,084 per annum
Contract Type: Full Time
GSL Education are seeking a Teacher of History for a thriving Secondary school in York starting in September 2025. The position can be adapted to accommodate an experienced teacher wishing to expand their expertise, or an ECT or strong graduate seeking their first teaching position.

Teacher of History Responsibilities:
· Deliver engaging lessons that align with the national curriculum or exam board specifications.
· Use a variety of teaching strategies to make the subject matter interesting and accessible.
· Maintain discipline and create a positive learning environment.
· Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
· Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils.
· Stay up-to-date with developments in the subject of History.
· Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Teacher of History Requirements:
· Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status, with UK-based teaching experience.
· Hold a relevant Degree at 2:1 or higher.
· A strong and comprehensive knowledge of history, including current events and developments.
· Be an excellent classroom practitioner with the ability to innovate, enthuse and use your own initiative.
· Have a commitment to ongoing personal development and training.
· Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply a for a new one through GSL Education.
