Salary: £76.92 - £95.68 Per Day (Depending on Experience)
Contract Type: Full-time/Permanent

Are you passionate about supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant in Southbourne to work closely with students who require additional emotional and behavioural support to thrive in their educational journey.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA), you will play a key role in fostering a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment. You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide tailored interventions, helping students develop confidence, self-regulation, and positive learning behaviours.
Responsibilities of a SEMH TA:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies.
- Encourage students to develop social skills and emotional resilience.
- Support classroom learning and engage students in positive activities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive environment.
- Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to staff and parents where necessary.
- Help students manage emotions and build self-confidence.
- Promote a positive and structured learning environment.
- Assist with de-escalation strategies when required.
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
SEMH Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs as an SEMH Teaching Assistant is desirable.
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare is desirable.
- A degree in Psychology, Education or in a similar field.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.

- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
- Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
