SEN Teacher

Location: Wimborne
Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 per annum (MPS/UPS) (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate / April 2025
Job Type: Full-time/Permanent

Are you an experienced and passionate teacher with a desire to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)?

GSL Education are currently seeking an SEN Teacher to join a dedicated team in Wimborne. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with additional needs, working in a supportive and inclusive environment.

As a SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning to students with varying needs. You will adapt your approach to meet individual learning requirements, helping students to achieve their full potential and supporting them in their educational journey.

What you have to do as a SEN Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with SEN.
  • Provide both group and one-to-one support to students, ensuring their academic and personal progress.
  • Adapt and modify the curriculum to ensure inclusivity for all learners.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, teaching assistants, and other professionals to monitor student progress and support individual learning plans.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that promotes student engagement and participation.
  • Help develop and implement strategies to manage student behaviour and encourage positive social skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide regular updates to parents and staff.
  • Promote a child-centred approach to learning, ensuring that each student's unique needs are met.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and self-esteem in students to help them succeed academically and socially.

SEN Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience in teaching students with Special Educational Needs is highly desirable.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Educational Needs or a related field is beneficial.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with additional learning needs and the ability to implement strategies to support their learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An empathetic and patient approach to teaching, with a passion for supporting students' academic and personal development.
