SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Totton
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day to Day / Long Term, Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) in Totton to provide tailored support to students, ensuring they receive the guidance and encouragement needed to thrive.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in assisting students with diverse learning needs. You will work closely with teachers to adapt lesson materials, provide one-to-one or small group support, and help create an inclusive learning environment. Your role will be essential in fostering confidence, independence, and academic progress among students.
Responsibilities of a SEN TA:
- Provide dedicated support to students with additional learning needs on a one-to-one or small group basis.
- Assist teachers in delivering adapted lessons that cater to students’ individual requirements.
- Implement behaviour management techniques to maintain a structured and positive learning environment.
- Support students' emotional, social, and academic development.
- Modify teaching resources and strategies to match different learning styles.
- Foster confidence, communication, and independence among students.
- Monitor and report students’ progress to teachers and SEN coordinators.
- Help prepare and organise classroom materials and activities.
- Provide emotional and physical support when needed.
Special Needs TA Requirements:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance is desirable.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a relevant field is advantageous.
- Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant in a school settingis preferred.
- Understanding of SEN needs, behaviour management strategies, and learning support techniques.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting students.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
