SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Eastleigh
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day to Day / Long Term, Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant in Eastleigh to work closely with students who require additional support in their learning journey.
This SEN TA role is perfect for someone who is patient, empathetic and committed to helping children thrive both academically and personally. You will play a crucial part in fostering an inclusive and positive classroom environment in a one-to-one or a small group setting for children with special needs.
Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Assist students with their learning by providing tailored support in a one-to-one or group setting.
- Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to implement individual learning plans.
- Foster a safe, encouraging, and structured environment for children with special educational needs.
- Help manage classroom behaviour and support students with social and emotional development.
- Adapt lesson materials to suit different learning abilities and needs.
- Support students with physical, sensory, or communication needs to ensure equal access to education.
- Assist with personal care and mobility support if required.
- Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
- Monitor student progress and communicate findings to teachers and parents.
SEN TA Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, especially in a SEN environment, is preferred.
- A CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance is advantageous.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is beneficial.
- Good understanding of individual learning needs and behaviour management strategies.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
- Patience, resilience, and a commitment to student development.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one.
