Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 per annum (MPS/UPS) (Depending on experience)

About the Role

As a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering individualised and structured lessons to support the academic, emotional and social development of students with SEND. You will play a crucial role in developing learning strategies, implementing tailored interventions and creating a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teacher:

  • Design and implement differentiated lesson plans that cater to students with a range of SEN needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and communication difficulties.
  • Use adaptive teaching techniques to support learning and engagement, ensuring every pupil has access to a meaningful and fulfilling education.
  • Foster a structured, safe and engaging classroom environment, encouraging confidence and independence in students.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and external specialists to develop personalised education and support plans.
  • Assess, monitor and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies to support individual development.
  • Provide pastoral support, helping students develop their social, emotional and behavioural skills.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm and productive learning space.
  • Regularly communicate with parents and carers to ensure a collaborative approach to student success.

Requirements of the SEN Teacher:

  • Must have a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven teaching experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
  • Profound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and best practices in SEN education.
  • The ability to create and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with support staff and external professionals.
  • A compassionate and resilient attitude, with a commitment to promoting student well-being.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one through GSL Education.
