Teaching Assistant
Location: Weymouth
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 Per Hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking a Teaching Assistant (TA) to work in schools across Weymouth, providing essential classroom support and helping students reach their full potential. As a Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers in delivering lessons across the school’s key stages, assist students with their learning, and help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. Whether you are an experienced TA or looking to start a career in education, this opportunity offers valuable experience and professional development.
Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:
- Support students in their learning on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
- Encourage student participation and engagement in lessons.
- Provide additional help to students who need extra support.
- Help maintain a safe and positive classroom environment.
- Assist with behaviour management and student well-being.
- Monitor students’ progress and report any concerns to the teacher.
- Help implement and follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), and Individual Care Plans (ICPs).
- Assist with extracurricular activities and school events.
- Work closely with parents, carers, and staff to support student development.
- Adapt support methods to meet the varying needs of students, ensuring inclusion and accessibility.
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with children is desirable.
- A CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or a related qualification is preferred.
- A degree in Psychology, Education or in a similar field.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A passion for education and supporting students.

- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
- Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
