Job title: Support for Secondary Students
Location: Southampton
Salary: £12.83 per hour
Start Date: Immediate / After Easter 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Part-time can be arranged for the right candidate)

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate individual to Support secondary school students in Southampton. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping students overcome challenges and achieve their academic potential.

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with various needs, including academic, social, and emotional support.
  • Assist in the delivery of lessons by helping students understand and engage with the curriculum.
  • Offer pastoral support to students, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure that students' individual needs are met.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, providing feedback and support to help them improve.
  • Help students develop key skills such as organisation, time management, and independent learning.

The successful candidate will:

  • Previous experience supporting students in an educational setting, ideally in a secondary school.
  • Ability to work effectively with students of various abilities and backgrounds.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive, flexible, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
  • Experience working with students with additional needs (SEMH, ADHD, Autism, etc.) is desirable but not essential.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
