Job Title: Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Sheffield
Pay rate: £94 to £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Role Overview:

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant (Grad TA), you will support both students and teachers in the delivery of Psychology lessons, with a focus on students. This role offers an excellent opportunity for psychology graduates to further develop their teaching experience in a school environment while helping students achieve their full potential academically.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Psychology department in the delivery of lessons to students.
  • Assist in the creation and preparation of teaching materials, helping to enhance the quality of Psychology lessons.
  • Provide individual and small group support to students, reinforcing key psychological concepts and assisting with their studies.
  • Encourage independent thinking by facilitating discussions and debates on psychological theories, experiments and ethical issues.
  • Monitor and track student progress, offering constructive feedback to help improve performance and understanding.
  • Assist in creating an inclusive classroom environment, ensuring all students feel valued and supported.
  • Support the class teacher with behaviour management strategies, ensuring a productive and positive learning environment for all students.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology (or a closely related field) is essential.
  • Previous experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably supporting Psychology or other social sciences.
  • A strong understanding of psychological theories, research methods and key concepts within the subject.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible and engaging way.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students and teaching staff to create a positive and productive classroom environment.
  • Experience working with young people, either in a tutoring, teaching assistant, or mentoring capacity, is desirable but not essential.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
