Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Havant
Salary Range: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start time: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are pleased to introduce an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant at a warm and inclusive school in Havant

You will provide exceptional support to students with special educational needs, guiding them to reach their full potential through personalised and heartfelt care.

About the role:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play an integral role in fostering a supportive and stimulating environment for children with diverse needs. Collaborating with teachers, specialists and families, your dedication will empower students to achieve their fullest potential, both academically and personally.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, helping them engage with the curriculum effectively.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Monitor and record student progress, offering feedback to teachers and parents to aid in their development.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their social, emotional and academic growth.

Requirements of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Prior experience supporting children with SEN, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, or Emotional and Behavioural Disorders (EBD).
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine passion for helping students overcome learning barriers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the diverse needs of students in a dynamic classroom setting.
  • Patience, empathy and a passion for supporting all students.
  • Understanding of various SEN conditions.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
