GSL Education is thrilled to partner with a forward-thinking secondary school in Southampton to find a passionate and experienced Curriculum Leader for Modern Foreign Languages (MFL). About the Role
As the Curriculum Leader for MFL, you will play a central role in shaping and delivering the MFL curriculum, fostering a love of languages, and leading a team of dedicated language teachers. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that drive excellence in teaching and learning while ensuring that all students receive the highest standard of education in their chosen languages.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing the MFL department to achieve high standards of teaching, learning, and outcomes.
- Developing and reviewing the MFL curriculum, ensuring it is engaging, challenging, and relevant to all students.
- Coaching and mentoring MFL staff, supporting their professional development and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Driving innovation in the delivery of languages and ensuring that best practices are consistently applied.
- Monitoring and evaluating student progress, using data to inform decisions and strategies for improvement.
- Promoting languages across the school and encouraging students to explore the benefits of multilingualism.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a passionate and strategic leader who:
- Holds a recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) and has experience teaching MFL at secondary level.
- Has a proven track record of leadership and management within a school environment, with the ability to lead a team and drive change.
- Is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and fostering a love of languages among students.
- Demonstrates strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Has a forward-thinking approach, with a passion for developing new teaching methods and resources to enhance student learning.
