SEMH Behaviour Teaching Assistant
Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary: £90-£100 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: 6th January 2025
Hours: 8.30 am - 3.45 pm
Contract Type: Long-Term, Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEMH Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic school in Tower Hamlets. This full-time, long-term role begins in January 2025 and offers the opportunity to work with students in a supportive and inclusive environment.
As an SEMH Behaviour Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping students overcome emotional and behavioural challenges, enabling them to engage fully with their education. Your work will help students develop positive relationships, manage their emotions, and make progress in their academic and personal growth.

Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and support students in making positive choices.
- Help students manage their emotions and behaviours in a positive, constructive way.
- Work with the SENCO and teaching staff to develop and implement personalised learning plans for students.
- Support students during lessons and transitions, helping them remain engaged and focused.
- Foster a nurturing environment that encourages positive behaviour and academic success.
- Assist students with developing their social skills and building self-esteem.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
- Support students in developing coping strategies for dealing with challenges in school.
- Promote inclusion and help students feel confident and valued within the school community.
- Ensure that students follow the school’s behavioural and safeguarding guidelines.
Requirements of SEMH Behaviour Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs as an SEMH Behaviour Teaching Assistant, is highly desirable.
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance, or similar qualifications are preferred.
- A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is beneficial.
- Knowledge and experience of implementing behaviour management strategies.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Passion for supporting students with additional emotional and behavioural needs.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
