Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Hull
Salary Range: £83 - £96 per day (Depending on experience)
Start time: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are looking for a compassionate and patient Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with special educational needs. The role will involve assisting the student with academic tasks, ensuring they are fully engaged in school life, and providing tailored support as per their individual learning plan.
Responsibilities of the 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to the assigned student, ensuring their learning needs are met in accordance with their individual education plan (IEP).
- Assist the student with classroom tasks, adapting teaching methods and materials to suit their learning style.
- Monitor and record the student’s progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
- Support the student’s social, emotional, and behavioural needs, promoting positive interactions and engagement.
- Implement strategies to manage behaviour effectively and create a calm and supportive learning environment.
- Communicate regularly with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents/guardians about the student’s progress and any challenges.
- Always ensure the child’s safety and well-being during school hours.
Requirements of the 1:1 Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a 1:1 SEN role.
- Knowledge and understanding of different learning disabilities and strategies for supporting children with additional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate) are desirable.
- Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding practices and child protection policies.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
