SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Barnet
Start Date: ASAP
Salary Scale: £90 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic school in Barnet. This role is pivotal in providing tailored support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs, ensuring their full participation in educational activities. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate with teachers to develop and implement strategies that foster a positive learning environment. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate patience, empathy, and resilience while working closely with students who may exhibit challenging behaviours.
Responsibilities of an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Support students with SEMH needs in their academic and social development.
- Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons.
- Monitor and record students' progress and behaviour.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour.
- Collaborate with other staff members, including therapists and educational psychologists.
- Engage in regular training and professional development opportunities.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
Required Qualifications for an SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic educational setting.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
