£90 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education London Branch are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a dynamic school in Enfield. About the role:
As a SEN Teaching Assistant (Supporting ASD), you will provide tailored support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, promoting their academic, social, and emotional development within the classroom. You will assist in creating a positive, structured environment to help each student reach their potential.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Work closely with students diagnosed with ASD to provide tailored support in classroom activities and individual learning sessions.
  • Implement effective teaching strategies and behaviour management techniques in collaboration with the classroom teacher and SENCO.
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging environment to promote positive learning experiences.
  • Assist with social skills development, sensory needs, and daily routines.
  • Document student progress and provide feedback to the teaching staff and parents.
  • Maintain a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere, managing challenging behaviours with patience and professionalism.

Requirements of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally with a focus on SEN/ASD support.
  • A strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and experience with relevant interventions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to stay calm in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to support students’ changing needs.
  • A safeguarding certificate (or willingness to obtain one before starting).
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
