Teaching Assistant
Location: Hook
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 Per Hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long-Term, Full-Time / Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking a Teaching Assistant (TA) to work in schools in Hook, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Whether you have experience in education or are looking to begin a career in teaching, this role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience while making a real difference.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom support to both teachers and students, ensuring every learner has the tools and encouragement they need to succeed. You will assist with lesson preparation, engage with students on a one-to-one or small group basis, and foster a supportive and structured learning atmosphere.

Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:

  • Support teachers in planning and delivering lessons tailored to students’ needs.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help students stay engaged and motivated.
  • Encourage student confidence by assisting with learning activities and classroom participation.
  • Help with classroom organisation, lesson materials, and resource management.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and school staff to create an inclusive environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback where necessary.
  • Assist with behaviour management, promoting a positive and respectful classroom culture.

TA Skills & Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with children is advantageous.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field is beneficial.
  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students and staff.
  • A patient, supportive, and proactive approach to learning support.
  • An enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willingness to apply for one.
