Location: Christchurch
Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 Annually (MPS/UPS) (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate / April 2025

About the Role:

As a Special Education Needs Teacher in Christchurch, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality education tailored to the needs of students with a SEND. You will collaborate with other staff members to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment, empowering students to excel both academically and personally, unlocking their full potential

Key Responsibilities of Special Education Needs Teacher:

  • Plan and Deliver Lessons: Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to the needs of students with SEND.
  • Support Individual Learning Plans: Assist in the creation and execution of individualised education plans for students.
  • Monitor Progress: Track and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies as necessary to ensure each student is progressing towards their goals.
  • Collaborate with Staff and Parents: Work closely with teaching assistants, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to each student’s education and well-being.
  • Create a Positive Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported.
  • Engage and Motivate Students: Use a variety of methods to engage and motivate students, catering to different learning styles and preferences.
  • Maintain Records: Keep detailed records of each student’s progress, including assessments, observations, and feedback, and communicate this information to relevant parties.

Requirements of Special Education Needs Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience: Prior experience in teaching students with SEN, ideally within a specialist or inclusive setting, is essential.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills for effectively interacting with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Relationship Building: Ability to establish and maintain strong, supportive relationships with all members of the school community.
  • Commitment: Demonstrate a deep commitment to helping students with SEND, exhibiting patience and empathy.
  • Qualifications: Relevant teaching qualifications or training in SEND education (desirable but not essential).
