Job Title: Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary Range: £90-£100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start time: ASAP
Contract: Full-time and Long-Term
Working Hours: 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant (TA), you will support pupils across various year groups, working alongside class teachers to enhance their learning experience. With a focus on phonics instruction and the primary curriculum, you will help strengthen literacy skills by delivering targeted interventions and offering individual and small-group support, ensuring every child can engage with their learning effectively.

Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Support the teacher in delivering lessons and activities to a primary school class, ensuring that every child has access to the curriculum and is fully engaged in learning.
  • Work one-on-one with students with SEN to support their specific learning needs, helping them to achieve their full potential.
  • Assist with group work and independent tasks, ensuring that all children can participate at their level.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to both the teacher and the students to track development.
  • Assist with classroom management, ensuring that the classroom remains a positive, focused and respectful learning space.
  • Encourage children’s social and emotional development, helping them build positive relationships with peers and staff.
  • Assist with personal care and routine activities, ensuring the well-being of students throughout the day.
  • Support the preparation of learning resources, making the classroom environment engaging and stimulating.

Requirements of the Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Primary school-based experience is essential, particularly within the context of working with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with children who have a variety of learning needs, including but not limited to Autism, ADHD and Learning Disabilities.
  • Use child-centred approach.
  • Able to support on a 1:1 basis.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3) or equivalent experience.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
