Job Title: Humanities Teacher
Location: Doncaster
Salary Range: £140 – £190 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: February 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic Humanities Teacher to join a progressive secondary school in Doncaster, teaching Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational educator to nurture students’ curiosity about the world, past and present.
Role Overview
As a Humanities Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering dynamic and well-structured lessons that stimulate curiosity and independent thought. You will play a pivotal role in helping students develop critical thinking skills, fostering a deep appreciation for human culture, global issues and ethical dilemmas.
Responsibilities of the Humanities Teacher:
- Deliver engaging and curriculum-aligned Humanities lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- Teach core subjects such as History, Geography and Religious Studies, ensuring a well-rounded education.
- Inspire students to explore historical events, social structures and geographical landscapes.
- Encourage debate, discussion and independent inquiry to develop students’ analytical and evaluative skills.
- Prepare students for GCSE examinations, offering tailored support and interventions where necessary.
- Implement a variety of teaching strategies and resources to cater to different learning styles.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting respect and cultural awareness.
- Monitor student progress through assessments, coursework and feedback, ensuring high academic standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the Humanities curriculum and develop cross-disciplinary learning opportunities.
- Uphold school policies and safeguarding standards, ensuring the well-being and development of all students.
Requirements of the Humanities Teacher:
- A qualified teacher status (QTS) and must hold a PGCE in Humanities, Social Sciences, or a related Humanities discipline.
- Proven experience teaching Humanities at KS3 and KS4, with strong subject knowledge.
- A passion for developing students’ understanding of historical, social and geographical concepts.
- Strong classroom management skills, fostering an engaging and structured learning environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, encouraging discussion and debate.
- Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
- Be able to provide a ten-year career history with relevant reference details covering the last two years, including your most recent place of academic employment.
