Job Title: English Teacher
Location: Huddersfield
Salary Range: £140 – £190 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: February 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are searching for an exceptional English Teacher to join a reputable secondary school in Huddersfield, delivering high-quality teaching to Key Stages 3 and 4.
Role Overview
As an English teacher, you will be expected to create and deliver dynamic, well-structured lessons aligned with the national curriculum, fostering an inclusive and stimulating learning environment. Your role will extend beyond teaching, as you will be expected to assess, mentor and inspire students to achieve their full potential in English.
Responsibilities of the English Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons per the KS3 and KS4 English curriculum.
- Foster a passion for literature, language and creative writing among students, encouraging them to develop analytical and communication skills.
- Assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback.
- Develop a positive classroom environment that nurtures confidence and academic growth.
- Employ innovative and inclusive teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Support students in GCSE English Language and Literature preparation, equipping them with key examination skills.
- Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to develop and enhance departmental strategies and schemes of work.
- Uphold high expectations for behaviour and engagement, creating a respectful and focused learning space.
- Engage with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and development.
- Actively contribute to extracurricular activities, such as debating clubs, creative writing workshops and school literacy initiatives.
Requirements of the English Teacher:
- A qualified teacher status (QTS) and must hold PGCE in English or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 levels, with a strong understanding of the curriculum.
- Possess strong knowledge and best practices in English teaching.
- Excellent classroom management skills with the ability to inspire and challenge students.
- A creative and adaptable approach to lesson planning and delivery.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with students and staff.
- Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
- Be able to provide a ten-year career history with relevant reference details covering the last two years, including your most recent place of academic employment.
