About The Role:

As a School Health Care Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in assisting pupils with medical conditions, physical disabilities and learning difficulties. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and medical professionals to create a nurturing and inclusive school environment. This role is ideal for someone with a background in healthcare or SEN support who is eager to make a tangible difference in children's education and well-being.

Responsibilities of School Health Care Support Worker:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with healthcare needs.
  • Assist pupils with medical interventions, personal care and mobility support, following individual healthcare plans.
  • Monitor and record students’ health and well-being, reporting any concerns to relevant staff.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents and healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student care.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive school environment that promotes independence and confidence among students.
  • Administer basic first aid and support students with medication management as required.
  • Assist in classroom activities, adapting tasks to meet the needs of pupils with additional requirements.

The successful candidate will:

  • Prior experience as a Health Care Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, or Support Worker in an educational or healthcare setting.
  • A qualification in Health and Social Care, Childcare, or a related field (desirable).
  • Understanding of child safeguarding and first aid procedures (training can be provided).
  • Compassion, patience and a proactive approach to supporting pupils with complex needs.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
