Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 per annum (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate / April 2025

About the Role

As a Primary SEN Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experience of children with diverse learning needs. This role requires patience, creativity and a deep understanding of individualised learning strategies to ensure that every child receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teacher:

  • Plan, deliver and assess high-quality lessons tailored to the needs of SEN pupils.
  • Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with SENCO and external professionals.
  • Create a supportive and engaging classroom environment that fosters learning and confidence.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet a range of learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilise behaviour management strategies to ensure a positive and structured learning experience.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers and multidisciplinary teams to support pupil progress.
  • Monitor and track students’ progress, adapting teaching methods where necessary.

Requirements of the SEN Teacher:

  • Must have a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, preferably within a primary setting.
  • Strong understanding of SEND strategies, including autism, ADHD, speech & language difficulties and complex needs.
  • Ability to differentiate learning materials and tailor lessons to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with staff, parents and external professionals.
  • Patience, empathy and a passion for inclusive education.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
