Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Portsmouth
Salary Range: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a welcoming school in Portsmouth. In this role, you will provide personalised support to students with SEN, helping them grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

About the role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Working closely with the classroom teacher, you will adapt lessons and offer one-on-one support to ensure every student gets the help they need to succeed.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction to students with SEN.
  • Work closely with classroom Teaching Assistants to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Provide support and guidance to Teaching Assistants and other staff working with SEN students.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers about student progress and needs.
  • Stay informed about current best practices and developments in special education.

Requirements of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Previous experience working with SEN students or relevant training in special education is preferred.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of various SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD and Speech and Language difficulties.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
