Job Title: Humanities Teacher
Location: Sunderland
Salary Range: £150 - £220 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: ASAP
Contract: Daily Supply, Long term
GSL Education are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Humanities Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Sunderland. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a department that values creativity, critical thinking, and academic excellence.
About the role: As a Humanities Teacher, you will deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons that encourage students to explore the complexities of the world around them. Your role will involve fostering a love for learning, encouraging analytical thinking, and developing students’ understanding of key historical, geographical, and ethical issues.
Responsibilities of a Humanities Teacher:
- Deliver high-quality lessons across Humanities subjects (History, Geography, and Religious Studies).
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that challenge and inspire students.
- Assess, track, and provide feedback on students' progress to help them reach their full potential.
- Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages open discussion and debate.
- Foster an interest in the Humanities by making learning engaging and relevant to students' lives.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach to curriculum delivery.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities and school events related to Humanities.
- Monitor student well-being and offer support where needed.
Required Qualifications for a Humanities Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of the Humanities curriculum and a passion for the subjects.
- Experience teaching Humanities at the secondary school level (ECTs welcome).
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students to engage with complex topics.
- A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to working within a team.
- Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
