Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Dibden Purlieu
Salary Range: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

If so, GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a forward-thinking school in Dibden Purlieu, providing essential support to students with a range of learning needs.

About the role:

In the role of a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with students requiring additional support, including those with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). Your role will be to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that each student feels supported, valued and encouraged in their educational journey.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support, ensuring that students with SEN receive personalised attention to meet their individual learning goals.
  • Assist in delivering structured and engaging learning activities, adapting materials and resources to suit diverse learning needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and SENCOs to provide holistic support for students.
  • Assist with speech and language interventions, sensory support strategies and communication development.
  • Support students with personal care tasks, where necessary, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with staff and parents to ensure continuity of care.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies, ensuring the well-being and safety of all students within the school environment.

Requirements of the SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA):

  • Previous experience working with SEN students or relevant training in special education is preferred.
  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of various SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Speech and Language difficulties and Sensory Processing Disorders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
  • A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
